Welding Alloys Primary Bloom Mills

Benefits of Weldclad 17

  • Longer campaigns, fewer roll changes.
  • Enhanced roll surface.
  • Dressing reduction from 20mm to 10mm.
  • Better shape control and reduced wear of the 330 pass.
  • Reduced finished product dressing (scarfing).
  • Better stock shape - less rhomboidity.

The campaign life of the Primary Mill breakdown rolls was significantly improved by using Weldclad 17.

The wear rate of the Weldclad 17 was significantly less than that of the alloy cast steel rolls. Additionally, the Weldclad 17 required only a 10mm dressing to establish a fresh working surface, whereas 20mm was required on the alloy cast rolls.

The campaign life is summarised in the following table.
