Abrasion Resistance & Earth Moving Equipment |
| |
Hardfacing and Abrasion Resistance Corewire provide expert advice and support as well as a wide range of appropriate materials to aid manufacturers and operators of heavy earth moving equipment to increase component service lives. By decreasing plant downtime costs are reduced with obvious benefits. |
| |
| | | | | | | | | Abrasion Resistance – Increased Service Life Wear in earthmoving plant is not limited to the blades, buckets and grabs. Less obvious areas such as the track and tractor components are just a vulnerable to wear, and can be just as costly to replace. Corewire products can be applied to all aspects of wear in earthmoving plant. |
| | | |
By definition, the environment in which earth moving plant operates is extreme, and wear rates are rapid. Compacted, high-density materials will hit hard when moved, meaning that equipment can expect repeated and heavy impacts, whether excavating, lifting, pushing or transferring. Equally, soil, sand, crushed rock and aggregates result in quite extreme abrasion and wear. It is this combination of primary and secondary wear types that produce high rates of attrition and short equipment service lives.

Significant Cost Reduction Unfortunately, the majority of this equipment, due in part to its specialist nature, and often due to its very size, is extremely expensive to replace. Therefore, the service life of such front line plant will have a big effect on an operation’s production costs.

| | | | | | | | Protect a Wide Range of Components It is not only the obvious components, such as buckets, that are vulnerable. The following less visible machinery is also just as vulnerable to wear:
- Chutes
- Caterpillar Tracks
- Track and Idler Wheels
- Dredging Equipment
- Hoppers
- Screens

| | | | | | Hardfacing Products and Technology Support Corewire’s list of open arc, self-shielding wires range for air hardening alloys right through to metals that form an extremely hard complex carbide matrix. These materials produce an impact- and abrasive-resistant layer onto the vulnerable areas of plant significantly lengthen service lives, and thereby reducing operating costs. In addition, being self-shielding, Corewire welding wires will be as suitable for remote, on-site jobs, as well as for a more controlled workshop environment.
Hardfacing Cost Savings Through Protection or Repair Corewire’s hardfacing consumables can be applied to new components, such as bucket teeth and blades, to give an extremely durable surface from new. Alternatively, Corewire products can be used to build up and repair already worn parts, meaning a single component can potentially go through several life cycles before needing to be replaced.
